Tom Gold at the Gardner

May 17, 2018 @ 3:00 pm

Tom Gold, founder and director of Tom Gold Dance, is participating in an evening of dance with three works “that re-imagine the Classical World” in conjunction with the exhibition (and restoration) of the celebrated Farnese Sarcophagus (c. 225 CE), Thursday, May 17, at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

On the program, presented by members of New York Theater Ballet and Tom’s eponymous group, are Vaslav Najinsky’s Afternoon of a Faun,” Jerome Robbins’s Epitaph, and a Gardner-commissioned World Premiere from Tom to Stephen Sondheim’s Concertino for two pianos, a piece originally composed in 1949 while Sondheim was a student at Williams College, but never performed publicly until it was rediscovered in 2001.
